Animals in Winter.....
Using the Mitten by Bret and the same story by TresseltDear Rebecca, Winter is HearKeep Looking by Selsam has great things in their environment to identify that lets them see the difference between living and dead and hibernating and adapting during winter!
Students will have read the Brett version in class before coming to the library. We will read the Tresselt version in the library. We compare the two tales. We reinforce the concepts that during winter animals, migrate, hibernate or adapt. Students think of how they adapt in winter. Students will choose one of the animals to research. We rehearse asking questions-- Students then seek answers on the animals in winter webpage.
Students return to class to illustrate and wirte their pages. Their completed book will be published and circulated through the library.
